Sedrick leads the Community Development charge in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia through personality, passion, and a genuine understanding for the purpose of CRA. In the two years Sedrick has been with the Bank he has held a series of highly successful roundtables as well as built a relationship with The Support Center, a CDFI that provides small business loans and training to start-ups and existing businesses. Most recently Sedrick was awarded the Presidential Award by the Carolina Small Business Loan Fund.
Sedrick's banking career has been a journey of growth and learning. Starting at a small, community driven CDFI/Minority-Owned Bank (MOB) out of Durham, North Carolina and winding his way to Woodforest, Sedrick has lived the true CRA experience. He has worked in impoverished areas with institutions focused on financial literacy. He has seen the impact of the housing bubble up close and personal while working with Bank of America's loss mitigation pilot programs. Sedrick's path to Woodforest provided him with a plethora of experiences in the practical application of CRA and Community Development. He believes that Community Development is all about making sure you make an impact.
Sedrick holds the advocacy groups who fight to give a voice to the less fortunate in high regard, because they are fighting for people like him. He remembers the struggles he faced and the help these organizations were able to give. Sedrick believes that Woodforest as a bank has a responsibility to be responsive to these groups, as they help us remember who we should be fighting for.
