Levar Martin is NALCAB’s Director of Programs. In this role, he oversees all work programmatic work, including the provision of data analysis and research - housing and market assessments, neighborhood change; technical assistance to member organizations and government entities around affordable housing, community development and economic development programs; community inclusion – facilitating community and stakeholder engagement; and policy, including fair housing and the preservation strategies in appreciating markets.
Levar joined NALCAB in 2011 as a program assistant, and then served as the program coordinator for the U.S. HUD CPLC/NALCAB Neighborhood Stabilization Program Round 2 Consortium. Levar later moved on to serve as Special Assistant to the Executive Director, Program Manager, Senior Program Manager, Director of Equitable Neighborhood Development and now, Director of Programs. Prior to joining NALCAB, Levar worked as a Manager for a small business for five years and spent a semester as an intern in the City of San Antonio’s Department of Planning and Community Development, focusing on Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
A San Antonio native, Levar earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Urban Studies from Trinity University and a Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning, from the College of Architecture, Construction and Planning, at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He is a proud husband and father to a baby boy.
