Joseph is CAAB’s Associate Director. He is an Asset Building, Financial Capability and Financial Services professional with 16 years of experience in a broad spectrum of program & project management, team management, business development and investment strategy & portfolio management in 1) the Wealth Management and Investment Management fields servicing Wealth Management Firms, High-Net-Worth Individuals & Families, Endowments, Foundations and Retirement Plans and 2) the Asset Building field working with Non-Profit Organizations, Small Business Entrepreneurs and Low- and Moderate-Income Families.

At CAAB, Joseph oversees CAAB’s relationships with key funding supporters, private sector employers, media organizations, elected officials in Washington, DC and individual donors. He is also the manager of four educational & outreach campaigns: the DC Earned Income Tax Credit Campaign, DC Saves Campaign, DC Ahorra y Prospera Campaign and Ahorrando y Prosperando en el Condado de Montgomery Campaign. He is also CAAB’s liaison with the DC Financial Education Literacy Council, the Assets & Opportunity Network, the Taxpayer Opportunity Network, America Saves and economic inclusion collaborations with the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, FDIC and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Prior to joining CAAB, for over 2 ½ years Joseph was Managing Director of Investment Operations & Portfolio Management at McLean Asset Management, a wealth management firm in McLean, Virginia. Before that position, for over 8 ½ years Joseph was Vice President of Client Services & Managed Accounts at Advisor Partners, LLC, an institutional money management firm in San Francisco, California.

Joseph has been quoted in The New York Times, Graduate Day on PBS, All Things Considered on NPR, El Diario La Prensa (New York City), La Opinion (Los Angeles), El Tiempo Latino (Washington, DC) and El Pregonero (Washington, DC). He is also a frequent guest on TV and radio shows in English and Spanish commenting on economic development, financial planning, asset building and wealth creation topics.

Joseph holds a BA in International Relations from San Francisco State University. Currently, Joseph is on the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization Dream Project in Virginia and is also active with two other Greater Washington, DC-based non-profit organizations—Washington Area Community Investment Fund (WACIF) and Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC)—developing & teaching, on a pro bono basis, Wealth Achievement and Personal Financial Planning classes for low-income first-time home buying families and small business entrepreneurs. Previously, Joseph has been a Member of the Investment Committee of The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, Strategy Advisor to the Executive Director of the Hispanic Committee of Virginia and intern in Ankara, Turkey and Frankfurt, Germany.
