Jen Hughes currently serves as a community solutions specialist for the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, DC. In this position, she manages federal, philanthropic, and local relationships to strategically integrate arts and culture into community revitalization work. She currently oversees the Citizens’ Institute on Rural Design as well as the Our Town pilot technical assistance program for NEA’s creative placemaking grantees. Previously, she managed the Our Town creative placemaking grant program, Mayors’ Institute on City Design, and Design Art Works grant program. Her experience prior to the NEA includes working in local government as an urban planner and the private sector as a communications specialist.
