Gabe del Rio is the President of Springboard CDFI and member of the senior leadership team for the Springboard Social Enterprises & Credit.org family of companies. Prior to Springboard, Gabe was the COO for Community HousingWorks, and helped lead the transition of the CDFI to a national platform for scaled expansion. In his time at CHW, he helped double the organization in size & impact, and created an integrated service model that has been one of the most productive and innovative in the country. Before that, Gabe was a licensed CA Contractor and partner in a Sustainable Design/Build Firm as well as working in the for-profit mortgage lending business both as a Direct Lender and as a Broker.
Gabe chairs the National Mortgage Collaborative Leadership Council, bringing together the highest producing mortgage-focused CDFIs nationally with the support of the Ford Foundation. Gabe serves on several boards; currently as a Chairman & Founding President of the Housing Opportunities Collaborative, a HUD intermediary that encompasses nonprofits across Southern CA, as well as Chairman of MUFG-Union Bank's Community Advisory Board. Previously, Gabe served on & helped found the national HomeOwnership Center Advisory Committee for NeighborWorks America, was a Director with San Diego Capital Collaborative, and served two terms as Board President of Rebuilding Together. Gabe regularly participates in committees, roundtables and meetings that work with both private and non-profit sector organizations to collaborate in better serving those in need.
Gabe has a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University in Psychology and Biology, with a minor in Art, was educated by the Mortgage Bankers Association, graduating the School of Mortgage Banking as an AMP, and attended the Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s Executive Program; Achieving Excellence in Community Development.
