Keeping Kids Lead Free in Healthy Communities & Homes

Location: Salon V
Date: Fri, June 2
Time: 10:45 AM - 12:15 PM

Lead continues to poison young children all over the country despite being banned in 1978 by the federal government. Since 2000, overall about 225,000 young children have been poisoned by lead in New Jersey alone. It is a public health crisis that has disproportionately affected communities of color and low income households in both rural and urban areas. Speakers will address efforts by a diverse coalition to generate resources and awareness to eradicate childhood lead poisoning, policy changes on the state and federal level, efforts being done on the ground, and next steps to expand healthy communities and homes.
